PS5 Controller

This project was a self initiated case study focused on the PlayStation 5 controller. The goal was to translate PlayStation’s minimal and clean design language into a 3D motion piece using Cinema 4D.

This project did not involve any modeling. Instead, the focus was on compositing, camera work, lighting, and controller animation. The controller was treated as the main hero element, with simple camera moves and controlled lighting to highlight its form and details.

The idea came to me while gaming with friends, which sparked the thought of recreating PlayStation’s minimalist style in a 3D space. The visual approach leaned into soft lighting, restrained motion, and negative space to stay true to the PS5 brand feel.

The biggest challenge was restraint. It was important not to overdesign or add unnecessary elements. Keeping the visuals simple, consistent, and intentional required constant evaluation of what could be removed while still maintaining interest and clarity.
